Uganda Closer To Passing Dangerous Anti-Homosexual Bill.

Before I get into the meat of this article, let me begin by saying that you will find my normal sense of humor and my sarcastic style of writing elsewhere.  This is not the time or the place for either - I want everyone to be aware of what is going on in Uganda right now, and I want to be blunt about it.  There is nothing funny about the Anti-Homosexual Bill being considered by the Ugandan Parliament.

Perhaps you don't know about it.  Perhaps you know it by another name.  Don't be fooled by its rather G-rated government title - there's a reason that the Anti-Homosexual Bill is also known as the "Kill the Gays" Bill.

If it passes, LGBT members of the Ugandan community will not be safe, nor will people that defend them, harbor them, or associate themselves with them. Box Turtle Bulletin has the information, complete with a bunch of lovely, educational hyperlinks:

The Anti-Homosexuality Bill would, in its current form, bring the death penalty or life imprisonment for gay people, and would endanger everyone else with lengthy prison terms for either knowingproviding services, or defending them. A complete clause-by-clause examination of the bill’s nineteen clauses begins here, and our examination of the numerous false reports that the death penalty has been removed is here. A description of the Parliamentary process is here; with the Anti-Homosexuality Bill now at step “C.” If the bill is passed by Parliament, the Uganda Constitution spells out these options before the bill becomes law.

This is very dangerous, folks.  Regardless about how you feel towards the LGBT community, I think everyone can agree that this bill is harsh, unnecessary, and terrifying.  It bears a chilling resemblance to the actions of the Third Reich during World War II, and it has to be stopped immediately.  I don't think I need to warn anyone of the dangers that innocent human beings would face if this bill passes.

Take a few minutes out of your day and educate yourself about this bill, then share that knowledge with someone.  Start a conversation, get a dialogue going.  Let the leaders of Uganda know that ignorance of this scale will not be tolerated by the rest of the world.

Don't let them pass this bill.  Please.

I'm not sure how old this is, but here's the link to a Change.org petition you could sign to show your support for the Ugandan LGBT community.  Out of date or not, your signature can't hurt.

Salvation Army Major Believes Homosexuals Should Be Put To Death.

Major Andrew Craibe, the Territorial Media Relations Director for
the Southern Territory in Victoria for the Salvation Army

Australian LGBT journalists Serena Ryan and Pete Dillon recently had an interview with Major Andrew Craibe of the Salvation Army, and holy fuck did they get more than they bargained for.  In a span of approximately fifteen minutes, Ryan and Dillon showed me what true journalism was and, furthermore, proved that our system of reporting is a piss-poor sham.  People should be held accountable for their actions, words, and beliefs, not let off the hook because they know how to circumvent a question.

Don't believe me?  Listen to the full interview by clicking on the link below, and then try to defend the journalists of America.

I Work Through My Sadness By Beating Conservatives With Logic.

As many of you know, I had a bit of a breakdown the other night after Scott Walker won his gubernatorial reelection in Wisconsin.  I threw a good ol' fashioned pity party complete with a gallon of chocolate ice cream, sad clown face paint, and six straight hours of crying like a baby.

I'm kidding, of course.  I got really pissed, wrote a blog post that maybe twelve people read, and then went to sleep.  But I bounced back from my anger (I almost deleted this blog) with the help of my good friend Ted over at Jobsanger, and with the realization of two things: that Walker's victory means nothing and that the American media needs to go away.  I'll have more on that stuff in another post.

North Carolina Has Officially Become A Haven For Hatred.

Well, North Carolina, I suppose you asked for it.  By passing Amendment One a few weeks ago, you made it quite clear that you are a haven for hatred, bigotry, and idiocy.  Enter the KKK.

President Obama - The First Pro-Gay Marriage President.

For those of you wondering where your video is, I said (perhaps predictably) "fuck it" to iMovie.  It's a royal pain in the ass, and I'm too technologically inept to put something together.  I worked on my baby project for hours - don't think I didn't! - but my need to get it all perfect in one take quickly drove me to madness.

So fuck iMovie.  Fuck YouTube.  You're all stuck with me and my wall of text.  I have admitted defeat.

But there are several fights that I won't back down on, and a good portion of them revolve around the man pictured above.  This post is going to be quite long as I have a lot to catch up on.  Get comfortable, and prepare your eyeballs (and your mind) for the radically socialist/liberal attack that they are about to be on the shit-end of.  In an effort to help some people with short attention spans (including myself), I will be breaking this post into several smaller posts.  I might continue to do this... but I tend to rant.

The #ToMyUnbornChild Twitter Trend.

I've said it in multiple posts and I'll say it again: there is nothing wrong with being gay.  As my loyal readers know, I am pro gay marriage and pro gay rights.  Sexual orientation is like skin color - unimportant when it comes to the law.  If a law is passed, is should either apply to all humans or no humans.  That seems like basic common sense to me.

Every single day, I am on the brink of either having hope for our species or wishing we would all do planet Earth a favor and suddenly die out.  I would have thought that, as we creep ever so cautiously towards the future, the hope inside of me would begin to outweigh the utter despair.  2012 is proving that little hypothesis of mine to be wrong.

The "License to Bully" Bill.

A few months ago, I wrote a post about a Tennessee student who was attacked by his own principal for wearing a shirt that supported gay rights.  Now, when I think of gay-friendly states, Tennessee is not one of them.  Recent developments in the state's legislature have definitely proved this to be true.  Here's how:

On December 7th, 2011, 18-year-old Jacob Rogers (pictured above) took his life because of how bad the bullying was at his school.  He was, of course, bullied for being gay, and school officials (according to his friends) did absolutely nothing to stop it.  Suicide rates among gay teens - and even misunderstood teens in general - appear to be rising, and many states have passed anti-bullying legislation in order to give their schools more options in how to deal with such behavior.
