Well, North Carolina, I suppose you asked for it. By passing Amendment One a few weeks ago, you made it quite clear that you are a haven for hatred, bigotry, and idiocy. Enter the KKK.
You see, the town of Reidsville suddenly found itself positively flooded with fliers for a Memorial Day weekend "cross-burning" party. Ironically, it is to be held in Harmony, North Carolina on private property this Saturday, the 26th. Here's what the flier said:
Join us, the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, for a rally and cross lighting, Saturday, May 26, Harmony, North Carolina. Free Admition [sic]-White People Only. No alcohol, drugs, fighting, glass bottles or weapons. Free on site camping-all major motels in area. Souvenirs. Vendors. Food and beverages for Sale. Cross lighting at dusk-a white unity event. Live country band. Security provided by LWK.
Oh, goody, a "white unity event"! And look, they'll have souvenirs!
Kudos to the writer of this flier, by the way, for making a Klan rally sound semi-pleasant. Although, I'll admit, he probably could have left out everything but the first sentence. The rest is kind of... obvious.
The flier isn't really what surprised me though.
This sure as shit did though.
That ad for the cross-burning? Yeah, that's on the front page of a local newspaper.
So congratulations, North Carolina. It's good to see that you have no problem shooting down human rights when it comes to two people being in love but, when the Klan shows up to throw a whites-only cross burning?
“I’m a little bothered by it,”Annie P. Pinnix, who received a flier, told the Winston-Salem Journal on Monday. (Source:Raw Story)
You're just a little fucking bothered by it.

I'm a native North Carolinian...my hometown is about 30 miles from where this rally took place. Even more disturbing---only 15 miles from the infamous "pastor" of Providence Road Baptist who, that same week, preached enclosing gays inside an electric fence to starve to death.
I'm saddened & horrified by these attitudes and the open hatred and hypocrisy of the Bible thumping "Christians". Love one another indeed...if THOSE are examples of love, I NEVER want to see dislike, never mind hate.
