Lawsuit Says Obama Can't Be President Due To The Color Of His Skin.

One of the many reasons that I dislike all politicians (particularly career ones) is that they never mean what they say or say what they mean.  This character flaw obviously isn't just reserved for them, though.  Loads of people are two-faced these days.  One of the fantastic things about the political sphere since 2008 is that the masks have been melting away to reveal the true men and women that wear them.

Democrats have fallen victim to the unveiling - Anthony Weiner being a prime example.  But, as luck would have it, not everyone has gotten on board the victim train.  Republicans have actually embraced what they've been subtly hinting at for years.  As Justin Rosario writes over at Addictinginfo.org:

"If there is silver lining in the greasy dark cloud that right wing politics has become it’s that the Right has dropped any and all pretense. We knew, years ago, that the fight over abortion was really about contraception for women. Rick Santorum and his fellow candidates have been kind enough to drag that one kicking and screaming into the light for all to behold. But more importantly, the core of pure racism that the GOP has thrived on for half a century has cracked the paper thin veneer of respectability conservatives have carefully constructed. With the election of a black man to the White House, that racial hatred has come pouring out so fast it’s almost impossible to imagine that only four years ago, people were referring to America as a post-racial country."

Again, I want to be clear here when I say that I am not accusing all Republicans of being closet-racists.  Just... you know... a lot of them happen to be.  Roger Ailes, for example, has based several Republican campaigns off of the racial divide in America by playing to the conservative base's fears.  When Ailes went before the FEC sometime back (around 1988), he said, “When Republicans see Willie Horton they see a criminal, and when Democrats see Willie Horton they see a black.”  Thanks for that one, big guy.

So imagine how positively unsurprised I was when I found out that Gorden Warren Epperly, an Alaskan man, recently filed a lawsuit against President Obama to have his name struck from this November's presidential ballot.  His reasoning?  Because Obama is a black man or, as Epperly puts it, he "has the race status of being a 'mulatto.' "

Rosario writes further:

"The biggest clue? Birtherism. The various legal shenanigans attempted by Birthers all boil down to one very simple premise: Obama cannot be president of the United States because he’s black. Period. Questioning his birth certificate. Questioning whether having an African father makes him not an American citizen. Always some new 'question' as to his legitimacy as president. All of these are just window dressing. The problem is, and always has been, he’s black."

It's a heavy accusation, but not one without merit (as seen by Epperly's lawsuit).  The Right-Wing was perfectly content to watch George W. Bush run up the national deficit.  They were content to never question a Republican president's birth certificate.  But as soon as Obama became president, that all changed.  He was painted as being "different" because of the color of his skin.  He was, as Ailes also put it, foreign looking.  And that simply was not okay.

For more proof, I turn you to part of the lawsuit (as again reported by Rosario at Addictinginfo.org).

Barack Hussein Obama II, a.k.a. Barack Hussein Obama, a.ka. Barack H. Obama has the race status of being a “mulatto.” Barack Obama’s father (Barack Hussein Obama I) was a full blood Negro being born Nyang’oma Kogelo, Nyanza Province, Kenya and raised in the Colony of Kenya. Barack Obama’s mother (Stanley Ann Dunham) was a white Caucasian woman being born in Wichita, Kansas on November 29, 1942 and raised in the state of Washington and in the state of Hawaii.
As stated above, for an Individual to be a candidate for the office of president of the United States, the candidate must meet the qualifications set forth in the United States Constitution and one of those qualifications is that the Candidate shall be a “natural born citizen” of the United States. As Barack Hussein Obama II is of the “mulatto” race, his status of citizenship is founded upon the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Before the [purported] ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment, the race of “Negro” or “mulatto” had no standing to be citizens of the United States under the United States Constitution.
As the fourteenth amendment is only a grant of “civil rights” and not a grant of “political rights” Barack Hussein Obama II does not have any “political rights” under any provision of the United States Constitution to hold any Public Office of the United States government.

BOOM.  That is pure, uncut racism right there.  And Epperly isn't just attacking President Obama, he's attacking all black people with this lawsuit.  By saying that the Fourteenth Amendment only pertains to civil rights and not political rights, Epperly is basically screaming, "All of you African-Americans serving in government should not be serving in government."  Sorry, he probably wouldn't have used the term "African-American" when apparently "Negro" is so readily available.

Words utterly fail me.  It's why, as you've probably noticed, that most of the content in this post is from Addictinginfo.org.  Rosario has far more patience than I do on an issue like this.  Had I written an article, I would have called Epperly a racist, disgusting fuck who should have been punched right in the taint by every single lawyer that he brought this "lawsuit" to.

Is this okay?  It's 2012 here, people.  America has made a lot of progress in the last fifty years in respect to racism, women's rights, and homosexual rights.  So why are we suddenly backpedaling?  Stop the hate.

You assholes.
