WTF Is Wrong With Americans?

I found this lil' gem over at Daily Kos but clearly the image belongs to the Occupy Movement.  I'm not a fan of Silhouette Man - he's a little shady - but I like what he has to say.  I'd gladly pay higher taxes if it meant everyone in my country had the opportunity to better their education for free.

Unfortunately, I don't think the whole "raising taxes to make college free" pitch would go well in today's Congress.  I mean, put yourself in the black leather Ferragamo shoes of a Senator.  Educating your own constituents (particularly those of you in the red parts of 'Merica) is a great way to get your dumb ass voted out of office.

Lou Dobbs Vs. "The Lorax."

I am going to get straight to the point on this one.  Rarely do I get this angry - this pissed the fuck off - about things I find during my daily web-surfing.

Lou Dobbs, pictured above, is claiming that Universal's new movie - an adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic, "The Lorax" - has an insidious goal: to indoctrinate our children.

"It's about a woodland creature who speaks for the trees and fights rampant industrialism... So where have we all heard this before?  Occupy Wall Street, forever trying to pit the makers against the takers, and President Obama repeating that everyone should pay their fair share in dozens of speeches since his State of the Union address last month... The president's liberal friends in Hollywood targeting a younger demographic using animated movies to sell their 'agenda' to children."

I did not make that bold text up.  Those are actual words out of Lou Dobbs' actual stupid mouth.

Don't believe me?  I've posted the entire clip at the bottom of this page.

Poor? Jobless? Your Fault.

"Don't blame Wall Street.  If you don't have a
job and you're not rich, blame yourself."

Presidential candidate and CEO of Godfather's Pizza Herman Cain has a little news flash for all you poor, jobless Americans (particularly the protestors): It's your fault your life sucks.  This is the United States of America after all, where anybody with the proper motivation can go out and make millions of dollars overnight.  If you have no money and no job, then get motivated and fill a niche in society.

Cain needs a little dose of reality.  It is a lot harder today than it was even twenty years ago to become a multi-millionaire, even if it is on something as simple as selling fucking pizza.  Look at some of the recent up and comers in the wealthy club.  Most of them are able to do something new and exciting with computers - Zuckerberg, the founder(s) of Twitter, the guys over at Apple, etc.  And those aren't things you can just do.  You need to have a bit of computer know-how coupled with a nice, expensive college education in order to get anywhere.

#Occupy Wall Street. Bring Pot.

"This is what Democracy looks like, huh?  To be fair, it's also
what Bonaroo looks like." -Jon Stewart

Yes, I'm taking a break from school work to write this.  I know it isn't what I promised (I WILL get back to that list of the 20 evil guys eventually), but this whole protest in New York is just too good to be true, and certainly too good to ignore.

One would think that I would love and endorse a protest like this.  You might even think I'd head down there and join it myself.  Well, silly, you'd be quite wrong.  There are a number of things about this protest that piss me off.  Despite that, I do agree with it's potential, and it kills me to think that this could have been so much better.

Occupy Wall Street started on September 17th and has been going strong - growing, actually - ever since.  I had heard about it a few days before, but I put it out of my mind.  It was, I thought, doomed to fail from the get go.  With no specific goal, and no leaders in sight, the protest was surely going to falter within days.
